Leaving Sheffield bright an early Saturday 1st November, 21 brave souls set off to complete the three
peaks challenge to raise money for S.A.L.V.E.
The challenge started on Saturday afternoon, when the two teams set off up Ben Neivs (the highest
mountain in Scotland). They reached the top when it was already getting dark and then had to climb down with the aid of their
headtorches. Then we drove through the night to reach Scafell Pike (the higest mountain in England) which was mainly climbed
in the dark and had the teams battling high winds at the summit. Then we drove over to Wales to finish the challenge on Snowdon
(the highest mountain in Wales), even making time for a snowball fight or two along the way.
A huge well done to everyone who took part - you did an incredible job battling thrugh the snow,
wind and darkness to climb the three peaks. A great time was had by all, as well as a lot of money raised to help the children
of S.A.L.V.E. An additional thank you must go to Simon and Lisa who gave up their weekend to drive the minibuses, without
you this event wouldn't have been possible!
Sunday June 22nd 2008 saw some wet and wild conditions, but that didn't stop the teachers and children
of St. Anne's Sunday School Tottington from raising money for S.A.L.V.E International!
At the church's annual Music in the Park event, the Sunday School ran a very successful tombola
and a children's obstacle course, donating half of all money raised to S.A.L.V.E. An enormous amount of hard work and effort
went into running events on the day, and we are enormously grateful to both the teachers and the children of the Sunday
School for all that they did, particularly given the weather conditions!
Thanks to them, lots of money was raised for the children of S.A.L.V.E. International in
just a few hours!
On Wednesday 7th May 2008, Dorothy Fawcett and Peggy Graham hosted S.A.L.V.E. International's
first ever fundraising event!
In the glorious Norfolk sunshine, Dorothy and Peggy ran a coffee morning to raise awareness for
S.A.L.V.E. and the plight of our children. With the help of the kind people of Sutton, they raised a significant
amount of money which will go towards buying furniture for the new S.A.L.V.E. house and textbooks for the children. To see
photos from the event, just click on the picture to the left.
We'd like to say a great big thank you for all of your hard work, and for making this first fundraising
event such an enormous success. We are so very grateful.
On Sunday 27th April 2008 Becky Pitcher kindly donned her running shoes to help raise money for S.A.L.V.E. International.
The race started in the Don Valley International Stadium, continued through the streets in the city centre and returned
for a grandstand finish in the stadium. Over 4500 people took part in the race to raise money for a wide range of charities.
Here at S.A.L.V.E. we are proud Becky chose our cause as being the most worthy of her support. Running an impressive time
of just 1 hour 53 minutes, Becky raced her way around the Sheffield streets for us.
A huge thanks goes to her for this tremendous effort and to everyone who believed in her and sponsored her for the event.
