Meet Cane*

Cane* is fifteen years old.

Unfortunately, when he was a baby, his father died in a car accident, leaving him to stay with his Aunt.

They stayed in a slum area close to Jinja with her four children. However, when her partner left her to become a single mother, she could no longer afford to look after Cane alongside her own children.

With nothing to eat at home, and no money for school fees, Cane decided to go to the street to look for work and that he didn’t want to be a burden to his Aunt anymore.

He spent a year living on the streets of Jinja, before he met social workers who were doing street walks for S.A.L.V.E. He began coming to the Drop in Centre every day, where he learnt about the risks of life on the street and asked for help to go back home to his Aunt.

Cane is now happily settled home with his Aunt again, though she still is unable to pay for him to go to school. He enjoys social studies and English class. He likes to play football and wants to become an engineer.

Could you sponsor Cane for 25 pounds a month and give him the chance to create a brighter future full of opportunities?
