Many heads are better than one

Marc h is going to be a busy time for me as I will be working alongside our new CEO, Lucas, who will be taking over my position at S.A.L.V.E. when I change roles at the end of this month.

Having a Co-CEO for the next few weeks while we are both in Uganda together will give me lots of opportunity to introduce him to our amazing team and the incredible people we support, and show him a taste of what we have achieved so far. I know that Lucas will receive a very warm welcome and you can read more about him, below.

It is also an exciting month as we have so much coming up!

We have now launched our fundraising raffle, which is an amazing way for you to not only support S.A.L.V.E., but also win some fantastic prizes.

Coming up in April is the International Day for Street Children which is a globally recognised day, to stand in solidarity with children all over the world who find themselves living and working on the streets.

We will mark this day in Uganda, the UK and all over the world, on Tuesday 16th April, we will be hosting a S.A.L.V.E. Get Together, an online event that we would love for you to join. I will be there to introduce Lucas to you, and to give you the chance to learn more about what we’ve achieved with your support. It’s free to attend and everyone is welcome, please just register your interest here.

And last but not least, we are hosting another fun-filled ceili on Friday 19th April in Manchester. You can get your tickets here and I for one hope to see you while I’m spinning around the dance floor!

Meet our new CEO, Lucas

Lucas joins S.A.L.V.E International with experience in the public, private and charitable sectors. After completing his law degree, he spent three years at the Home Office, before joining a start up in London delivering sports events and managing retired sports stars. In 2019, he joined Street Child United, helping to deliver the Street Child Cricket World Cup in London, before subsequently project managing the Street Child World Cup in Qatar and Street Child Cricket World Cup in India. Having worked with over 50 organisations supporting street connected young people in 35 countries, he brings passion for the cause and strong experience of delivering impact on both a domestic and global level.

Help children on the streets and win a holiday!

We are very excited to launch our 2024 fundraising raffle with many fabulous prizes – including a one week break in Eastbourne for up to 6 people! All funds raised will be used to help children living on the streets of Jinja, Uganda leave the streets, return home to their families, and re-join education.

Tickets are just £5 and you can buy as many as you want to maximise your chances of winning. The more tickets we sell, the more funds we raise and therefore the more children we can help.

So whether you’re an adrenaline junkie who loves paintballing or outdoor swimming, if a £50 voucher would make you happy, if you’ve always fancied axe-throwing or if you’d like the chance to do an online cookery lesson – we have a prize to suit everyone! Please share far and wide!

📚 Children in Uganda returned to school and we thoroughly enjoyed seeing the children in our Education Support programme excited to return to learning and for the opportunities that this will give them in their futures.

🎓 We were delighted to hold a meeting for the caregivers of children in our Education Support programme, who we have been privileged to support. It was amazing to see how some of these families have turned their lives around completely through our Business Empowerment programme and Advanced Business programme.
