Hi, I’m Megan!

I am joining S.A.L.V.E. as the new Project Officer and I can’t wait to meet you all and get started!

I have recently graduated from studying a Masters degree in Global Development and Education. I have a real passion for education and believe that education is the catalyst for social change. Recently, I have been volunteering in an global education charity in Yorkshire, delivering workshops in primary schools which teach the children about important world issues such as climate change and global inequality.

In the past, I have volunteered in Thailand in an organisation for children living with HIV. This was an eye-opener for me and I got to learn a lot about HIV and the barriers that the children faced on a daily basis; such as dealing with the stigma associated to their HIV status and their reduced education due to frequent hospital visits.

I fully believe in the ethos of S.A.L.V.E. I really love that S.A.L.V.E. look to address the root causes of why children end up living and working on the streets and support the families of these children with the business empowerment programme. By working with the families to support them into a new business venture, they are then able to secure a regular and stable income which decreases the chance of other children in the family having to turn to life on the streets. I also love that S.A.L.V.E. offer vocational opportunities, catering to the variety of education needs and aspirations of all of the children.

I will be joining S.A.L.V.E. in January and will begin my role in Uganda. I’m really looking forward to working with S.A.L.V.E. and am very excited to meet everyone in the global S.A.L.V.E. family!
